Looking for Inspiration

I'm between projects & looking for inspiration for a new project. When I do this, I comb through old magazines, buy new ones, look at other people's work, anything for an idea. It can get expensive if I buy too many magazines or books for one picture that catches my eye. Right now I'm thumbing through a machine quilting magazines I bought today, drooling over the amazing quilts in them. Perhaps I'll find something to jump start my creativity. Making Little Things

In my last post I said I was looking for a project. Today I found something to sew,pillowcases & pillowcase dresses. I've made 2 of each. That brings the pillowcase total to 7, to date, the little dress total to 2- so far. I'll probably make more of them, they're easy & take little time to complete. I'm still looking for a bigger project of some sort. I feel like I'm in a blue hole of sorts, just depressed a bit. Don't know if its the cloudy, cold weather or something else. I've started back on St. Johns Wort which helps somewhat. I think if the sun would come out for a few days & I could get interested in something I'd be better. I'm sure I'll get over it in time. This is my low time of year, opposite my birthday in the fall, when my energy is high, so this low spot is expected. Don't worry, this too will pass.

Finally Finished

I finally finished this quilt top (still to be quilted). I began the project last September and finished it after the first of this year. The patterns came from Australain(sp) Patchwork & Quilting magazine, in 3 parts. In addition to the piecing, gold & black fusible bias tape were added around some of the shapes in the blocks. The quilt is about 68" by 72". I plan for it to be a wall hanging in my dining room once finished.It was a bit of a challenge but I finished it. Right now I'm looking for other projects, I've done some small things, but I'm in that state of looking for something that catches my eye. So far, no luck. I'll find something eventually.

Update on Zentangle quilt

I began the project with enthusiasm, however, I'm sad to report that it is not working out. The quilt is bunching up under the heaviness of the stitching done to gain the black areas. I've done everything I can think of to fix the problem, but nothing's working. I think I will abandon this project for now. Perhaps it was because I didn't start in the middle of the quilt or what, I don't know. Its just not worth completing at this point. Perhaps I'll try a smaller project at another time. I tried.

New project begun

I read how to make zentangles (my latest passion) into quilts. So I've begun one. I had the original drawing enlarged, traced it onto white muslin with a blue water soluble pen & have begun to free motion quilt it, going over the blue lines with black thread.This second photo is the original zentangle drawing. I'm keeping a log of the number of hours I spend working on it, which will be many from the looks of it. I'll post progress pics as I go. This project is tougher than it looks or sounds. The quilt is only 24" square, but its taking lots of time to stitch.

Phoenix Quilt

I made this quilt for my son's birthday. It nearly scared me to even try it, but it was really simple to put together once it was cut out & that was the hard part.

New Yahoo Group

I started a Yahoo group to study zentangles. I've also started blog for the same. the group is The Daily Tangle at http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/thedailytangle/, and the blog is on blogspot with the same name. If you are into zentangles, check it out, join the group maybe. This is a big step for me I feel & I hope it works out. Why the group address says "uk" I don't know. Perhaps its the only place they had to put it. Anyway, I now have to figure out how to incorporate zentangles into a quilt. Stay tuned . . .

A Brand New Blog

I just created a new blog at http://thedailytangle.blogspot.com/. It will have info about a new passion, but also an old passion-- something I've done for a long time, but recently discovered it had a name-- the Zentangle. There's lots of info on the web about already, but I decided to throw my pen into the ring as well. The blog will also,as this one does, contain stuff that goes on in my life, I call it the tangles life hands us all & how we handle them. I hope you will find interesting. Have a look.
