Its official- Didn't get In

I got the dreaded email a little bit ago. My entries into the Womens Hospital Project didn't make the cut. Oh well, at least I have 2 more quilts for the spring show. I'm working on a very complicated quilt that grew from a 4ft square to about 99 inches square. Its mostly mariners compass and new york beauty blocks set on point. Its done in blue, green, & teal. I have to make another trip to the quilt shop for fabric for the send, what I originally got is too dark. Oh well, another excuse to buy more fabric. I'll post a photo once its finished.

Another Horse Quilt

Here's another horse quilt from a purchased pattern. The pattern called for the piece to be done is fused applique. I decided, after getting confused at the amount of tiny pieces to be fused, to use Kim Bradley's technique of colored pencil & fabric medium. You paint on the fabric medium, then apply the colored pencil into the wet medium. It works with water soluble pencils not the was-based ones. Anyway, I guess I've hit a creative streak lately or maybe its that I'm just bored with all the snow outside.

The Horse Quilt

Here's the horse quilt I promised. Its not as large as I'd hoped for and, in the photo the back leg is turned too much, but it still worked out. It will be on display at the spring quilt show.

Today in Snowy KY

I've begun another horse quilt. The original pattern, not mine, called for fused applique, however, after trying it on this particular piece, Ive decided to use the colored pencil with textile medium to "paint" it. The applique has many, many tiny pieces which would get lost I'm afraid in process. Maybe I'm taking the easy way out but I think its for the best.
As far as the snow, there's too much of it for me. Its blowing around, causing whiteout conditions, can't even see the houses down the street. I got as far as the back porch to sweep it off but it began to snow hard immediately after I came back in so that was a lost effort. Eventually it will stop snowing, perhaps this spring?? :)

I'll post pics of the quit once I finish it.

Entries for new Womens Hospital

A local arts agency asked for art for a new womens's hospital in the area, available for the hospital to purchase. Its a juried show to present to hospital officials for them to choose art. I entered these two pieces, both art quilts. In the event my work gets chosen, I have 3 days to get it framed & delivered for the show.

Quilting Software Quandry

I was having problems with Electric Quilt, v.5. It kept freezing up. I contacted tech support, who's wonderful, with the problem. They fixed my screw up & guided me toward a solution. It worked. On top of having problems with it, I'd lost the book when I moved my studio a few months ago. So I couldn't look at the book to figure out what I did wrong. Long story short, I found the book, finally, after tearing my office apart looking, I conquered the software & created the block I wanted. I also got to pay off my mortgage today, goody, goody. That's a load off my mind & my bank account. In short, so far, this weekednd has begun on a good note. I just hope it continues all weekend, the rest of the month, rest of the year & the rest of my life.
